Donor Ready

Change how donors see your organisation, before the conversation begins.

Donor Ready is an internal programme. It does not go anywhere near a donor. It exists to help you understand exactly how you are being read, and to give you the evidence, the structure, and the narrative to proactively address it before anyone asks. We give you the collateral to use this as your exclusive outbound marketing tool, positioning you above every other charity competing for the same funding.

The Mirror

See what donors see.
Before they do.

Donor Ready begins with a simple question: if a senior corporate or trust donor looked closely at your organisation today, what would they find? Most charity leaders do not know the answer with any precision. That gap is the problem.

The programme gives you an independent, structured view of four specific areas donors now routinely evaluate. You get benchmarks, training, action plans, and re-assessments ; all of it internal, all of it yours.

The output is not a report for donors. It is a programme of work that produces genuine evidence of a modern, well-run organisation. When you go to a donor, you are not showing them a document. You are arriving as a different organisation.

Your silence is the problem

Donors are not waiting for weaknesses to surface. They are filtering on the absence of positive signals. If you are not actively demonstrating these things, you are being marked down.

Get on the front foot

The charities winning funding right now are not necessarily the strongest. They are the ones who understood the new criteria first and moved to meet them proactively.

Evidence, not aspiration

Donor Ready produces independently verified outputs, not talking points. When you say you take workplace culture seriously, you have the documentation to prove it.

The Programme

Four pillars.
Twelve months.

Each pillar addresses a specific area of donor scrutiny. Together they produce a comprehensive, evidenced picture of a forward-thinking, modern organisation.

Pillar One

Workplace Culture & Hybrid Working

An independent benchmark of your organisation's workplace culture and hybrid working practices, followed by a structured training and action plan cycle.

  • Independent organisational benchmark
  • 6 x 1-hour live online sessions, delivered by a training expert
  • Structured action plans following each session
  • Re-benchmark at the end of the programme

Training is delivered on multiple dates and times across the year. Will not interfere with your team's calendars.

Pillar Two

Respectful Workplace

Compliance with the Worker Protection Act 2024 and a robust, independently evidenced approach to preventing sexual harassment. a growing area of donor scrutiny.

  • Independent workplace audit against current legislation
  • 2 x 1-hour live online sessions, delivered by a training expert
  • Action plans and implementation support
  • Re-audit at programme conclusion

The Worker Protection Act 2024 creates a proactive duty on employers. This pillar ensures you are demonstrably compliant. A box-ticking online exercise is unlikely to hold up if it is ever tested in front of a judge.

Pillar Three

Workforce Sustainability

Delivered in partnership with Green Cross, the global sustainability NGO, this is a first: an independent qualitative review that measures the environmental sustainability of your individual workers, not your buildings or ride-share schemes. For charities that have struggled to tick the sustainability box in corporate donor ESG frameworks, this pillar makes that possible.

  • Independent qualitative sustainability audit of your workforce
  • Delivered in partnership with Green Cross (global sustainability NGO)
  • Analysis report with sector context
  • 1-hour training session
  • Re-audit at programme conclusion
  • Outputs suitable for inclusion in donor and funder communications

This is not a full carbon audit. It is a structured, people-level assessment that produces credible evidence for donor conversations, particularly in areas where charities have historically had no answer.

Pillar Four

The Donor Narrative

This work starts from day one, not after the other pillars are complete. From the moment you begin the programme, you can start talking to donors, citing your participation and demonstrating that you are actively becoming a modern, evidence-led charity. We help you build the new story you take to donors, one grounded in evidence, not aspiration.

  • Starts immediately from day one of the programme
  • Structured review of outputs across all three pillars as they progress
  • Donor narrative development session
  • Core messaging framework built around your evidence
  • Positioning guidance for corporate, trust, and public donor conversations
  • Written narrative assets for use in outreach and meetings

This is the point at which Donor Ready and Modern Outreach connect. The narrative built here becomes the engine of the outreach programme. You do not need to wait until the programme is complete to start using it.

How It Works

A structured programme,
not a one-off project.

Donor Ready runs over 12 months. It is designed to fit around the demands of running a charity, not to add to them.

01

Benchmark

Three independent assessments of seven minutes each over a twelve-month period. Establishes your starting position with precision.

02

Training

Live online sessions, delivered by a training expert across the year on multiple dates and times. Will not interfere with your team's calendars.

03

Action Plans

After each session, targeted action plans are developed and implemented with our support.

04

Re-Assessment

At programme conclusion, full re-benchmarking and re-audits across all pillars document your progress. Donors value this: it demonstrates accountability.

Time Commitment

Designed around your diary, not ours.

CEO / HR Director

Approximately 7 hours across the full 12-month programme. This includes oversight, sign-off on action plans, and the final re-benchmark review.

7 hours across 12 months.

Team Members

20-minute benchmark assessment, training sessions spread across the year, and time contributing to action plans. Sessions are offered on multiple dates and times so no single scheduling conflict blocks participation.
